So when will the next generation of consoles start? It's been five years since the Xbox 360 was launched with barely a hint at what is coming next. Capcom's David Reeves has a thought.

In a traditional console cycle, we would have seen Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony introduce new consoles at this year's E3 conference. However, a combination of the economy and the initial high price of the PS3 and Xbox 360 have kept that from happening. So when will we see the next generation of the Playstation and Xbox? Sometime in two to three years according to Capcom's David Reeves.

I can see it happening that soon. Though for some reason it's felt like this generation has only just begun. I guess time just flies by nowadays.

I think it's because all 3 consoles are on about the same level right now, it feels like we just started cause of it. But honestly I can see this gen lasting more than 10+ years, with full support from their respective companies. (Except M$, they're already thinking about a new console cause their's is getting dated)

I'd say M$ has a newfound life in the 360 with Kinect on the way, as does the PS3 with PSN+ and Move. Wii bringing back the nostalgic factors kicked things up a notch for them as well.

Three years seems like a reasonable amount of time, least of all to reveal the next set by the third year, providing of course we live passed that dreaded 2012 mark. Sneaky prediction there, Capcom. xD Good god, think about the prices by then, though.

I honestly don't think Sony or MS are going to find much renewal in their motion sensing hardware. The Kinect preorders are already quite low, and I don't see much more interest in the Move.

Give it time. xD They are definitely going to at least give these new hardware accessories two years of major support. Recall it took the PS3 a few years to really kick off, and now it's doing damn well.

    Tbh I wouldn't say within 3 years, I'd just say 3 years.

That seems like a good time to start bringing out the new tech. Although technically the PS3 could probably go for another 5, but it wouldn't want to get stuck behind the xbox 720 (still hate that name).
