Ubisoft to teach girls to be girls

black_wing79 | July 13, 2007 | News | DS Company Misc
In a recent Ubisoft press release, plans were released on a new DS-line of games aimed at teenage 14 -16 year old girls. Ranging from fashion to cooking to taking care of animals, these games are ubisoft's way of reaching out to an often neglected little girl market.
Ubisoft is excited to finally offer young girls a line of games that give them the chance to explore their hobbies and interests in interactive and creative experiences,” said Helene Juguet, senior director of marketing at Ubisoft. “Our consumer research revealed that the young girls’ market has been relatively overlooked. We are happy to introduce a variety of titles relevant to what girls in this age group have indicated they are most interested in.

Very typical 'girl' games...but yeah, its oriented at the little girly-girl market...

But of course, anybody interested in the games, will get them, regardless of how 'childish' or 'girly' it might seem...like the Pokemon games, you can be 30 (20 myself) and still be interested in the games...

I hope they don't neglect the Guys that like to play Girly games! Just like there are girls that like to play boy-ish games. So please, don't just innundate the cover with pink and a dozen girls. Have some guy representation in the girly games. I want to play a fashion game too, and take care of animals. It's not a female-exclusive trait to be caring- of others, and your own looks.

This is like...sexist in a way? I don't think that's what people would want. Besides, isn't games like Princess Peach's DS game and Nintendogs enough? There's also some cooking games out there

Games like Animal Crossing, Kingdom Hearts, and Mario games attract girls as well. Even Princess Peach DS attracts a good number of guys. Sexist in a way? Maybe, but cooking games and Nintendogs are enjoyed by guys as well.

They think it'll attract only girls, but it'll attract more, no game that has been aimed towards a gender have only been played and liked by that gender.
