Another example of the Wii taking over the world? possibly. In the first time in 20 years in Japan, Not one show on any commercial station managed to attain more than a 9 percent share of audience viewing. Most of this has been attributed to people spending more time on the Wii, according to TV executives.

However they said that in the future the Wii would face more competition as the Olympics and the football(soccer) World Cup air on Television

According to a recent report, Japanese TV executives are claiming that Nintendo’s Wii is responsible for a major decline in television viewing figures during the economically critical “golden hour”.

I'm not really surprised that the Wii is so popular that people would rather play it then watch TV. If I had a Wii I'd probably be playing it more then I watch TV as well.

      Same here dude,

To be fair I don't think there really is that much good tv on during the day... Maybe the tv stations are going to have to try harder by putting better shows on the air?

Not surprised. Before I got my Wii all I watch a bunch of T.V. but now I split it up between ESPN, Comedy Central, and Internet Channel.

I play my Wii all day, then go to the TV/DS internet at night for Adult Swim. tbh, there's really nothing on during the day.

I usually play Wii more than I watch TV as well. It's also a good thing (and helpful to Nintendo) that it can play Gamecube games.

interesting... My theory is actually that video games are healthier than normal TV shows. It involves you more, especially the wii, and prevents you from becoming a couch potato, sucking in socially conditioned information. wii sports will get you moving in the house

How can they know that it's the Wii's fault? The TV era is coming to an end, to be honest, with the rise of the Internet era. Youtube and other sites are used for 'tv pleasure.'
