Not terribly surprising news here as Nintendo is less concerned about being on the bleeding edge than coming to market with something that is available to everyone at the same time.

With the Playstation 3 heavily pushing 3D games and Nintendo coming out with the 3DS which supports 3D without the need for glasses, there has been some speculation on whether or not the successor to the Wii will come with some kind of 3D technology. According to Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, that isn't in the cards.

The successor won't support it not because of the expense of 3DTV, but because the graphics technology needed to render a game in 3D on the big screen is expensive. Nintendo will probably want the Wii 2 as cheap as possible so they will add the bare minimum like HD visuals and nothing much else.
