An article on Kotaku, a popular gaming blog, that claims that Sony "confirms" the Sixaxis Rumble controller rumour, has got people talking. Brian Ashcroft, a Kotaku author said that a Sony employee confirmed directly to him that the controller was actually coming. IGN contacted Sony to get an official response and to many peoples dissapointment, Sony denies that this controller exists.

An article posted by popular gaming blog, Kotaku has caused quite a stir over the last 24 hours, with the claims that Sony has "confirmed" a Sixaxis Rumble controller.

"Today, a Sony Computer Entertainment employee confirmed directly to me that the Sixaxis with rumble is coming," commented Kotaku author, Brian Ashcroft. "Nothing like getting something that's been taken away!"

Confirmation of a new "Shockaxis" is definitely big news, so we contacted Sony to get an official response to the report. Here was what the spokesperson had to say...

"The SCEA employee referenced in Kotaku's story stated that he had read in the news that third parties are working on a controller with rumble for PS3. His comments were taken out of context. Sony has made no announcements about rumble and PS3."

What "out of context" means has not been elaborated on, but for the moment Sony still denies the existence of the controller. We'll update you should there be a change in this story.

I really hope sony makes an offical "ShockAxis" controller, like what was described a while ago...It sounded pretty cool after all -_-

If it becomes a 3rd party only thing, I'm not interested...3rd party controllers always feel 'meh' to me, not as 'right' as the offical brand controllers do...

I hope it doesn't make the controller heavy like the old one. I like the lightness of the sixɐxiS.

They have plenty of room in the controller for this. The handles are basically hollow.

No one is forcing you to buy one... It isn't going to be like when the PS1 discovered analog sticks and you needed the dual shock controller specifically to play Ape Escape.

I don't know, Sony seems to have mixed feelings and continue to second-guess many decisions lately, such as that buzz about the 60GB phasing out, and now this. Won't affect me too much, but if they were going tio implement it I'd want them to do it soon so that I can get it along with my PS3.
