Epic: Unreal Tournament III will run faster on PCs

mistermostyn | July 16, 2007 | News | PC Playstation 3
Epic Games' Steve Polge has revealed that the PC version of Unreal Tournament III will run better on PCs than on next-gen home videogame consoles. He's also talked mods on the PlayStation 3 and individual tweaks to suit each platform. See what he has to say.
In a gaming world dominated by home consoles, it isn't often that the PC gets preferential treatment over its more fashionable competition, despite it often housing more advanced technological horsepower. In a turn up for the books, however, Epic Games' Steve Polge has revealed that Unreal Tournament III will run more smoothly on desktop PCs than on console platforms.

Clearly, since Unreal Tournament's team are used to the PC moreso than the consoles (isn't this game their first console debut one?), people are better off getting it for the PC if they are capable of running it.

Faster cpu? Nothing currently is faster than Cell... Though the PC does win out in the RAM department and technically it doesn't in the GPU department a console can be optimised to use all of its power and PC never gets optimised.

Well I probably will be getting this, but its clearly obvious the PC would go faster then the console.

The news post is meant to be a little ironic in terms of pretty much every videogame playing better on a well-stacked PC platform.

Well i doubt i would play UT3 on a console even if the graphics were better... i usually play it on LAN(Local Area Network) with my friends...so we usually end up going to a LAN shop to play it..i don't really like playing it online either because of the connection lag..which is always apparent no matter how good technology has become..

    What a worthless article.

You could also say that Unreal Tournament 3 could run worse on a PC than on a console since I could install it on a really shitty PC and max out the settings and have it run at like 5 FPS.

    DUMB!

Either way its getting bought! Every game will be faster on a specific console, its not really a bother as it will still be fast, and look efficent and thats all that counts!! Its also a first time for Unreal on the PS3, so they can only improve for the future
