I really appreciate Microsoft's extended 3-year warranty as much as the next 360 owner, but this is ridiculous. Seems like there's been a rise in sales for the console over in Australia, so much sold to say that every EB Games were sold out of 360's, most likely due to the warranty.

Problem is, they were asked to be recalled recently, not being specific on what the problem was...if it was the design fault, RRoD, or something different. Since EB Games appearantly sold them all, it will take some time to track those particular consoles and even more time to get them repaired and shipped again. Bad news for Australians...and Microsoft.

According to an inside source, about two weeks ago all EB Games stores in Australia were told to return every Xbox 360 they had in stock. Indeed a look on the EB Games Web site shows that the Xbox 360 is "sold out" at every store we checked.

It's another setback for Microsoft's console, with buyers worldwide being given an extended warranty just over a week ago due to a "design fault". Coping with the increased number of repairs is expected to cost the company in excess of $1 billion.

There is no word yet whether the alleged return of Xbox 360s in Australia is a result of this same design fault, or another problem entirely.

A salesman at one of the EB Games stores in Sydney told GameSpot AU that all the stock received within the last two weeks is being recalled, but also speculated that "it could go back as far as a month".

Both Harvey Norman and Dick Smith have the product in stock as of the morning of July 16. EB Games refused to return our calls and a spokesperson for Microsoft declined to comment, telling Gamespot AU that, "we're not going to comment on that".

To bad for Microsoft, they shouldn't have rushed things to try and beat Sony.

If this turns out to be a different issue than before then this could hurt the reputation of the 360 in terms of stability. In other words, how many more design faults and bugs are lurking in their console?

It's a shame, really. Microsoft needs to keep the rest of the world in-check, and not just focus on the States. A few of my friends turned down getting a 360 because of these problems...if I lived in Australia right about now, I'd be pissed.

Poor Microsoft. Everything's working against them

Nah, Microsoft's irresponsibility is the thing that works against them, making such a bad design for a console with great potential, thats sad. I can already tell, Sony and Nintendo won.

Well they have not exactly been having the best of luck with their console, maybe it'd be good for them to fix the problems and start a new console after this debacle is over under a different name with all the previous bugs taken care of as well new upgrade to make it more like the 'more popular console'.. which i am pretty sure will happen given Microsoft's nature..

The way things are going now they might as well start making Xbox 540 or whatever instead of trying to extend warranties. Thats why people don't like the hardware failures of the xbox.

And not to start anything but it seems MS can't win anyway. Think about it, They released xbox last year later than ps2 and didn't win. They released XBox 360 with great potential and have practically 100% failure rate, according to MS themselves. Which is caused by rushing and lack of taking time to look at the console b4 they shipped them out last year. I mean it seems that MS doesn't have the skills to be successful in the gaming world. By these problems. However this is how im taking this.

First the 360 starts failing at a rate non of us have ever seen on a console. Then the developers start complaining about the last gen format limiting them.

Seriously things aren't going well for Microsoft at a moment

Haha, "a rate non of us have ever seen on a console?" It's funny... people seem to forget the failure rate of both the PS1 and PS2. After fixing the PS2's problem, in 2005, the failure rate finally dropped to 16% while both the Xbox and GameCube combined had a rate lower than 5%.

Don't even get me started on how many people had to turn their PS1's upside down just to play a game.

Microsoft will fix the problem, no doubt. I guess I'm fortunate enough not to experience the RRoD, so I can't speak for the people that have. All I know is that problems occuring on a console with a manufacture defect are usually fixed within the console's second year on the market.

But you gotta admit, Cdemon, the 360's failure rate is higher than PS1 and PS2. Hell, my bud works at EB Games and never got one problem from a customer about those consoles. Although I did go through two PS2's because of the DRE's, each lasted three years+. I love my 360, no doubt, just afraid of the dreaded RRoD

I think i had a fair amount of problems with my PS2, so i am not one to say that i am too much of a fan of the hardware... I feel the reason the PS2 actually did so well was more to do with the game base they had compared to the XBOX.. since the XBOX was very new and alot of game authors were already comfortable with the PS2..

I can say i had my ps2 for 7 years since its released never had a problem. So im lucky there. I also never had a problem with my ps1 either, again lucky. But Cdmeon don't try to say MS is fixing it, how the hell do you know that. We only have other people opinions to go forth. for all we know MS could be BSing like crazy. But we will see if 2 months the failures continue i will say They are talking BS.
