According to Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's CEO, the Wii's Lineup is balanced. He never expected to release many games for this fall, since Nintendo is focusing on quality, not quantity.

"I think it’s balanced. Rather than quantity, we wanted to show quality. We could show, like with Wii Sports, showing to the core gamer what kind of new gaming experiences they can have if Nintendo is going to introduce them to the Wii version of traditional Nintendo franchises. I think we have enough titles to satisfy gamers from now until next year," explained Iwata.

"It was important for us to further expand the market for core gamers and we featured Wii Fit today to introduce gaming to somebody new. The people who didn’t pay attention to Wii Sports and never thought of having a game machine at home. We think they may be interested in fitness. It’s a balanced line-up we showed today. I’m serious we would like to make Wii the best-selling console in the history of video games."

I think they've managed to achieve both quantity and quality. Out of the next generation console systems, I have the most games for the Wii (twice as many as I have for the 360, and three times as many as I have for Playstation 3). It's amazing. The games are great. ^___^

Balanced? They are releasing too many huge titles at the end of the year which is a terrible move, imo. Metroid Prime 3, Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, and SSB. Brawl. They should spread some release dates for next year if they want to keep up their #1 spot. But hey, if they can deliver great titles like these next year, then I shouldn't have a problem with it.

I'm happy that we are getting these games soon, can't wait to play Brawl...just not good in terms of business.

If you have to remember that Nintendo's are not idiots, and pretty experienced in the business world. The fact that they're releasing all these big titles consecutively actually excites, since if they're confident enough to do something like that, they probably have huge things in store fo 2008 and beyond.

I think Nintendo is counting on third party support with Wii more than any of their other consoles. Asides from Mario Kart, the rest of the titles we have seen coming out next year for Wii are from third parties. Disasters began as a third party title, Final Fantasy, No More Heros, Fighting Steel, and several other games should give the Wii a strong lineup going through 2009.

Third party games always have trouble competing with Nintendo's big franchises, and with them all coming out this year, it should open the door for the third parties to get a piece of the Wii pie.

They'll just let everyone play manhunt if they run out of games to release. That will make take two happy.

It would make me happy too.

I owned a Gamecube for a few years, and on the Wii's launch day I almost already owned the same amount of titles I did for my Gamecube's entire life span. Now I've already well surpassed that number. I am really glad to see Nintendo doing so well and not just in the handheld market. At least they have their hit titles spread out some and not all coming out in the same month too.
