Miyamoto has discussed the new idea of a Balance Board to go with new upcoming title "Wii Fit". This comes from talk of in the future of having Snowboarding games and a balance board to be used in it. He also goes on to say that they will make it available for the larger customer by stating "We're certainly thinking about making it American-size for America ".

At Nintendo's developer roundtable on Friday, Shigeru Miyamoto discussed the upcoming Wii title Wii Fit and the newly announced peripheral, the Wii Balance Board.

"Lately I've been spending most of my time on Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Fit," he said. "Super Mario Galaxy is a very game-like game, but Wii Fit is unlike what we've done in the past. They do have one thing in common though, we're trying to make them both accessible to anybody."

When asked what other future applications would utilize the Wii Balance Board, Miyamoto said that snowboarding type games would be natural and doing something like that with the Balance Board would be pretty easy. "We'll help developers make that sort of thing happen," he said, "and I imagine you'll see something like that really soon."

"We only announced the Balance Board yesterday," Miyamoto responded to another question, "but we've had lots of interest from developers already. We've also had interest from the physical fitness and physical training industries, and while we were finalizing the form factor of the device itself, we were consulting with medical professionals - so many in the medical industry are interested in using it for medical applications."

Miyamoto also said that the Balance Board may need to be redesigned for the American market. "We're certainly thinking about making it American-size for America," he said. "We may need to super-size it. We've been focus-testing Reggie!"

That's good news. I can see a lot of games being made based off of the balance board. This is one of the greatest innovative creations I've seen from Nintendo. Can't wait for it

    Haha, focus-testing Reggie

It opens up a ton of possibilities. I mean, what about games that use the Wii Remote, Nunchuck, AND the Balance Board? You could make some pretty damn cool interactive games with it. Like something that just popped into my head. On Spider-Man 3 for the PS3 (Collector's Edition) you could control Harry with the SIXAXIS controller and throw pumpkin bombs.

What if you could control the glider with the balance board, and use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck to throw the bombs instead of pressing buttons? That would be pretty awesome

Lol, you could try and mix them all into one and playing Snowboarding Tennis (first thing that come to head). Now that would be preatty amazing xD
