Todd Howard, executive producer at Bethesda Studios has spoken out on this new trend of facebook games. His reaction is simply "I dont get it". Saying that he doesn't understand the fascination with these games. Maybe thats exactly it, maybe thats why non-gamers play those games as apposed to gamers.

"I've got to be honest: I don't get it" responded Howard.

"I look at it and try to understand but for now I've just decided to ignore it (laughter). I think, one day, maybe I'll figure it out, but until then, I don't see the allure of those kinds of games."

Howard seemed to channel the ambivalence of hardcore gamers around the world.

"The light bulb hasn't gone off for me. I just don't get it. I get these little messages: 'I've got a new horse, or fish?' I don't know" said Howard.

What's wrong with a difference in tastes and preferences of games?

I don't get games like . . . . Fallout (Dodges the world as the world throws everything in the world at me), GOW3, and many of the other games most people love . . .

I just don't have any interest or see any reason others would, beside the all-encompassing reason of: they have different tastes.

He didn't say it was wrong, he said he didn't get it. Which, oddly enough, is exactly what you just said.

Farmville isn't a game in my eyes. I go on Facebook regularly and I don't get Farmville at all.

And yeah, I love Bethesda. Despite some feelings I have towards them when it comes to the Fallout Online lawsuit and other things, they're a good company.
