Games We Love but Wish We Could Love Playing

In an industry that is filled with clones and "inspirations", we analyze the series that made the Xbox, reflect on what new things it did, and how it took the world by storm and continues to impact the industry to this very day.
Let's take step back: it is now November 2001. The internet still isn't big, broadband is a pushing innovation, and that brand new "Xbox" launched from Microsoft. But what did that big, ugly system have that made anyone want it? The PS2 install base was already huge, and Gamecube had launched 3 days before it, setting it at a bad starting point ($300 for a gaming console was quite ridiculous at that time). But something strange happened. Word started getting around of a game on the Xbox that you absolutely HAD to have; and the name of that game was Halo. I vividly recall my friends boasting about how gorgeous the game looked, and how much fun it was.
