Kinect requires you to be about six feet away to properly pick up player movement. Wii controllers lose reception after about eight feet. Now we find out that the optimal distance for the PS Move is eight feet.

One of the issues with all the new motion controls for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii has been how much space players will need while they move, swing, waggle and jump. Now we learn some of the space and placement requirements to give gamers the optimal experience with the PS Move.

    doesnt mean its necessary, just means the system picks it up the easiest at that distance. I played Eyetoy Antigrav at a mere four or five feet back in the day; there's no reason this, being more advanced technology, can't do the same.

      Right. They aren't saying it doesn't work up close. Just that they've found it works best at 8 feet.

    Thinking about this, I'm not actually sure how I'd use Move for my PS3. I have my bed right in front of it, so using stuff like camera guided motion controls may not work out for me.
