Epic Games' VP Mark Rein has revealed that Macintosh gamers will soon be able to experience native Apple OS X versions of both Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3. The news comes weeks after Apple CEO Steve Jobs committed to more support for Macintosh gaming at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.

Gears of War and Unreal Tournament are flagship franchises for Epic Games.

In a "Game Head" video posted on Gametrailers.com, Epic Games' VP Mark Rein announced that a Mac version of Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 are heading to the platform. Rein enthusiastically announces in the video, "And don't forget, we're also doing Macintosh. Yes, Gears is coming to the Mac and so is UT".

Hopefully this is a sign of more powerful GPUs being included in upcoming iterations of the Macintosh line-up. There's no use in having great looking games if the hardware can't run it!

The main issue with the Mac Pro, aside from the more business orientated price tag, is the fact that the choice of graphics cards are decidedly "last-gen". Despite Apple beginning to move over to newer nVidia chipsets, there still isn't the option of choosing the very latest technology available. While having a quad GeForce 7300GT Mac Pro setup may ensure lightning fast framerates, it won't give you all of the graphical nuances the Unreal Engine 3.0 has to offer.

Meh, Mac barely has anything impressive. I doubt it can handle what other processors like PC and such can. But it's great that they are attempting to get to the a wider audience, and that Mac owners get two great games.

The processors used in the current Macintoshes are actually extremely competent. Unfortunately the selection of GPUs available isn't all that stellar at the moment, especially in the more "consumer friendly" models (such as the iMac and MacBook ranges).

Have you actually read the specs on the Mac Pro? and what's more their Tiger OS is pretty much the same standard as the Vista (I use Vista on my PC and Tiger on my Macbook Pro, so i would know), and with Leopard OS coming out in october there is so much more potential..

i am pretty sure the two above mentioned games will perform way better on a Mac than on most other conventional PC brands.
