Ea and Black Box have announced today that their racing MMO Need for Speed World has surpassed 1 million registered users, and will from now on be sporting a fully free-to-play model.

The game was previously free up to level 10, and from there users had to pay, but now free users will be able to go all the way up to level 50. EA will still be making money through power-ups, double XP periods and even rental cars- all of which you have to pay for via microtransactions.
