Are you using WiiConnect24 all day long then (the) Wii might have a problem. People who are leaving the Wii's service on are beginning to notice over-heating problems, and whilst the problems aren't as pronounced as the overheating problem on the XBOX 360, the GPU of the Wii can still get damaged. Fortunately the trouble has so far only happened with a handful of consoles, meaning that determining whether the problem is common to all Wii's is hard.
It is suggested that rather than leaving it on Wiiconnect24, that you keep it on standby as well as keeping it in a ventilated and cool room, to lessen the chance of your console getting hot and damaging the GPU.

I have left my PS3 on for at least 4 days straight folding@home with no problems. I guess Sony just did an amazing job when it came to designing the way it would cool itself. The amount of hot air put out the side vent really does seem like it's doing it's job perfectly.
I mean last generation you could leave your GC, XBOX, PS2 all on for long ass periods of time with no trouble.
I should also point out that this isn't a problem with the console being on too long. When Wii enters its active standby mode, it remains connected to the internet. Its internal modem creates excess heat, but since the console is turned off, the fan does not run to cool the system off.
Anyway, this is old news. We were talking about this in the Wii forum months ago.
Although this hasn't occured to my Wii yet
Probably the over-heated wii's came from households in Texas, Arizona, or Los Angeles. My house stays cool okay, and I haven't had much problems with my little wii
This isn't a problem with the wii, probably 10 out of the millions of consoles has this happen, its also a good tip on how to prevent it. So this isn't a big problem like the xbox problems.
So i don't see this as something major.
Now i no longer fear heating problems.
