Canada gives Nintendo a nice little boost in their sales. The Wii and DS are still going head strong, coming in at 53,000 units for the Wii and 45,700 for the DS in the month of June. Playstation 2 and the Playstation Portable came next with 21,000 and 18,500 sales, the Xbox 360 trailing at 13,500. What's surprising, is that the PS3 sold 6,500 where the Game Boy Advance for Nintendo, beat it with 8,800 sales.
Nintendo is on a roll in Canada. The Wii and Nintendo DS have turned the hardware sales each month into a two-horse race, with each of them often doubling up the sales of any other system on the market. June was no exception, according to retail sales figures the industry-tracking NPD Group released to GameSpot this week.
For the month, the Wii sold just over 53,000 units, with the DS trailing behind at 45,700 systems sold. Sony's PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable were next in line, with 21,000 and 18,500 sold, respectively. On the rest of the next-gen front, Microsoft's Xbox 360 moved 13,500 systems, while the PlayStation 3 sold through 6,500 units and was trumped by the Game Boy Advance; Nintendo's portable predecessor to the DS sold 8,800 systems.

We really do... I mean, the Red Ring of Death and an obsolete handheld beat you. Either that or Canadians are poor.
I love how the comment here is "who cares" but when the PS3 outsells the X360 by 4k units, it's whoops and cheers for Sony.
This is a helluva lot more significant.
maybe this will give sony some more initiative to to do something about that damn system. that's pretty sad when a last-gen handheld is outselling a current/next gen console with like 34543x the power.
While the States can get a PS3 for $500. Converting that to Canadian money equals out to $550. Plus I know tons of rich people and they aren't that interested in a PS3.
I knew there would be doubters making comments about Canada. I don't really care. I could make those comments about the States but I don't need to.
Anyways, surprising to see the Game Boy Advance outsell the PS3 in that month.
Everything else makes sense though, the PS3 in Canada is like 800 bucks, the Wii is 300. That saves us the cost of an Xbox 360 (500 bucks). Kids like Nintendo, parents like cheap consoles. So do university students who have to pay off student loans and tuitions. The only people buying PS3's in Canada are high school students with part-time jobs that can afford to throw that kind of money away because they're not paying for anything else, and rich people.
Yeah, the PS3 has been selling quite poorly here. However, I didn't think the GBA would be selling so well at this point of it's life! I still see GBA games selling decently, but I didn't think the actual systems did. The 360 has done pretty well here, as well. The Wii is still nearly impossible to find, however.
Sony really played the cards wrong around here, though. $700 launch price is *bleep*ing rediculous(with 14% taxes, you are looking at roughly $800). People really aren't interested in paying that much for something unproven. The Wii has been doing well since launch and I know a number of 360 owners. Also, I do know a number of high-end PC owners as well. Many people I know are willing to pay $1,300+ on a high-end PC but not $700 on a PS3. Again, Sony simply has not captured the interest of Canadians.
And Gameboy advances can play old Gameboy games, so I can see why people would buy them.
So now nintendo loves canada lol? That's kinda dumb.
