Blizzard have announced that there are now 12 million subscribers to their popular MMO, World of Wacraft. Mark Morhaime comments on the game's success and expresses his hopes that Cataclysm will bring even more players aboard.

Blizzard Entertainment Inc. today announced that the insanely popular World of Warcraft has reached 12,000,000 subscribers. Released in late 2004, the MMO has gone on to monopolise the genre, introducing several star-studded advertisement campaigns, and even spawning two best-selling expansions; Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. The newest statistic will have been aided by WOW's release in mainland China, and is expect to witness another boost with the release of a third expansion pack, Cataclysm.
