Tekken movie in the works?

Apparently a movie going by the name of Tekken which tells the story of Jin Kazama and his quest for revenge is in the works. Could this actually be one of the first decent Game to Movie adaptations? Or will it suck royally? Only time will tell

Dwight Little ("Anacondas", "Murder at 1600") is currently prepping - a film that should've happened five years ago... or should it have? - the film adaptation of the video game "Tekken". Moviehole managed to get its hands on some of the character breakdowns. Know anyone that fits the bill?

Rehearsal Dates: September, 2007.
Principal Photography Dates: November, 2007 (in Budapest, Hungary).
STORY: The film is based on the Namco videogame TEKKEN is a near future "Gladiator" style action film. It tells the story of Jin Kazama, a twenty-something street fighter who embarks on a journey to avenge his mother's death at the hands of The TEKKEN Corporation and its CEO Heihachi Mishima. Jin travels a hero's journey into the heart of TEKKEN city and the Ironfist fighting tournament,which is the greatest mixed martial arts competition in the world. He discovers his true identity and fulfils his destiny as the rightful heir to TEKKEN.

Breakdown-- Jin: Early 20s, tough for his age and has a developed physical presence. He is Asian, or Asian/American, a fine actor and also a natural athlete and/or martial arts practitioner. Jin should feel more man than boy and ideally have a bit of an edge, garnered from living his early life on the streets. Jin will have complex emotional scenes to play and must be convincing both as an actor and athlete. Jin Kazama is the star and lead character in TEKKEN.

    This movie has been in talks since early '06, at least that's when I heard about that. It was around the same time that DoA was announced.

    this is probably going to be crap.

    All they're going to have is.

    The Mishimas in the movie
    Law
    and the whores.

    That's it, they won't have every single character in the movie, and if they do it would only be like a one minute clip that the character is in.

    Law? Well he is my favorite character. Yeah, that was just like the DoA movie, barely showing all the characters for more than a minute. In fact, it's like the Tekken animated movie.

    Lei Wulong should be played by Jackie Chan

    This could be just like another DOA though it is a different story was abysmal. If it has different creators and better authentic characters then it might work out okay.

    Not he shouldnt, Jet Li all the way mate =P

    Jackie Chan is the reason why they made Lei. Jet li doesn't look like him at all. Plus Jet Li is a corny fighter. He makes the moves unrealistic.

    I think they should just make a movie about Yoshimitsu ALONE. His missions/Life would be interesting. Plus King has to be in it. The Mishima thing is like a ghey drama show.

    That movie could be surprisngly bad, but you never know though, by looking at Transformers i think they surpassed the limits, and shouldnt have a problem creating any kind of character they want. *waits for Yoshimitsu movie*

    By the way, what's with all these games becoming movies? Hitman? Gears of War?

    every fighting game EVER that was turned into a movie sucked BAD.

    the doa movie sucked ass, they ruined that franchise for me.

    btw, sten, Jet Li is awesome.
