shuandrew | July 23, 2007 | News | Wii E3 2007
Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aime, has been chatting to MTV about a variety of topics, many of which touch upon the recent E3 Media & Business Summit. There are snippets on the Wii Balance Board, a defence of Manhunt 2, a word on Mario Kart Wii, Endless Ocean and Super Smash Brawl, as well as the hint of a hard disk for Wii.
“We take the design very seriously, so we’ve done a lot of testing,” Fils-Aime told MTV News. “We don’t see any risk of consumers falling off that Balance Board unless they’re … doing this while they’ve had a few too many alcoholic beverages.”

On the potential for the Balance Board,Fils-Aime said that Nintendo is already is discussions about its future uses, adding:

“Boarding games are obvious, whether it’s skateboard or surfboard… “My favourite idea is: Imagine a golf game where you’re standing on the Balance Board measuring the shift of your weight and using the Wii remote for a [golf] club.”

I like it, I like it. What's the big deal about MH2 anyways?

Plus, where is the conversation about SSBB, MKW, and MH2? -_- You told us about it, but we didn't see anything.

Wow, I never realized how much potential the Wii Balance Board really has. I hope the Tony Hawk games make use of the Wii Board.

golf game sounds pretty hard to design with that... would you have to exaggerate the weight shift to get the ball to fly...?

That's not what he meant by that. He meant as in like the shift of the on-screen character. The weight shift could relate to hip position, bend of the body, etc. You still use the Wii mote for actually nailing the ball.

Wii Fit and the Wii HD are certainly things to look forward to in the near future.

It would be a good idea, and could certainly make gaming a lot more interactive than just using the Wiimote and swinging, seeing as balance is needed in alot of bat and racket sports. And obviously more extreme sports like snowboarding and skatboarding.
