Once a bastion of PC gaming, the real-time strategy genre looks to be moving ever closer to a genuine home console transition.

The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth scratched the surface with an interface that 'almost' worked. Then Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars built on those successes with intuitive but not faultless control.

Now Bungie reckons that Halo Wars will be the single game responsible for accurately bringing the RTS experience to console gamers.

When it comes to real-time strategy titles, the PC mouse and keyboard has always reigned supreme over its console joypad counterpart. While EA's recent Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars went some way to shifting that platform boundary, Bungie believes it will finally shatter the RTS-doesn't-work-on-a-home-console taboo with Halo Wars.

Halo Wars is due for release some time during 2008, with a demo primed to hit Xbox Live fairly soon. GamerSquad's appetite is suitably whetted.
2007 ? I thought it was coming out in November. Oh well.

Until I see how the controls will work, I'll reserve my judgement. Bungie seems like a fairly objective place for a pro-Halo statement. I guess I'll wait for the demo and see how it works.
