Nintendo Dominates U.S. Games Sales

Gothic Girl | July 24, 2007 | News | Wii Company
Yet more good news for Nintendo. The recent U.S game sales have been tallied up, and Nintendo has easily topped the charts for the month of June.
Out of the top ten best selling games, Nintendo holds six of those titles...
Here are the hardware sales for the reporting period of June, which was actually a five-week month for NPD's purposes:

Nintendo DS - 561,000
Wii - 381,800
PlayStation 2 - 270,000
PlayStation Portable - 230,100
Xbox 360 - 198,400
Game Boy Advance - 113,000
PlayStation 3 - 98,500

The software top ten looks awfully similar to the hardware ranking.

1. Mario Party 8 (Wii) - 426,000
2. Wii Play (Wii) - 291,200
3. Pokémon Diamond (DS) - 288,400
4. Pokémon Pearl (DS) - 214,700
5. Forza Motorsport 2 (360) - 197,400
6. Guitar Hero 2 w/Guitar (PS2) - 197,350
7. Guitar Hero 2 w/Guitar (360) - 177,600
8. Pokémon Battle Revolution (Wii) - 157,900
9. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (Wii) - 150,000 (approx.)
10. The Darkness (360) - N/A

Overall, the video game industry is up 43% in total sales over the same month as last year, raking in $1.1 billion in sales this past June. No doubt this is in part to the doubling of hardware sales from June 2006.

    Wow, Nintendo DS is top.

Can't say I'm the greatest fan of Forza but I know many people who have the game so I'm not suprised that's there. However, The Darkness is a very good game.

Has this article already been posted 3 times today? Oh well, I still can't believe people are still buying the PS2. I mean, it's a great system, but that's way too many people buying it seeing how there's a whole new flock of systems waiting to be bought. Except for the Wii. It's like Chuck Norris, it never waits.

    ROFL@Chuck Norris

I was planning to buy Mario Party 8 for my Wii, but I decided not to. Now I'll go get it, since it has so many hits.

Don't people know that Mario Party 8 isn't that great? I mean, what helps it is the innovative controls with the Wii. I liked 4 and 5 better. Damn, DS' are selling fast.

The DS looks really popular. Crap. And look, the Wii's right behind it! I don't think Nintendo's sales will completely plummet with the good games for the PS3 and XBOX 360. Exclusively they have Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and the much-awaited Super Smash Bros. Brawl!

I've been a die-hard Nintendo fan ever since the NES, so I support them.

No doubt the DS is at the top of June's top selling system. And I feel the PS3 has a suitable position too seeing that it costs a lot. And WTF? This article has been made a few times already. People are too fast to make them...
