Nintendo Q1 sales quadruple

CVG has come up with a little article on Nintendo's profits and how it's doing with sales. Turns out they're making more money than Mario games. First, Nintendo's first-quarter results of 2007 show a 416% rise in profits. Second, the Wii has reached 9.27 million sales worldwide with the DS raking in a whopping 47.27 million sales. Nintendo has also increased their shipment for the Wii from 14 million to 16.5 million and the DS from 22 million to 26 million because of high demand.

Nintendo's first-quarter financial results for 2007 are out and they reveal an astonishing 416 percent rise in net profits for the Japanese giant when compared to the same period last year. In even simpler terms, Nintendo is raking it in.

Worldwide sales of Wii hardware reached 9.27 million units at the end of June 2007, while the DS clocked up a stonking 47.27 million unit sales. We need to sit down...

Nintendo has also increased its shipment forecasts for Wii from 14 million to 16.5 million for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008, and DS from 22 million to 26 million as the overwhelming demand for hardware continues.

    I need to buy one soon...because there won't be any come October/November what with Christmas coming up and all. Sales may go higher then.

    That's just mindblowing.

    I had no idea that they were doing that well and they show no signs of stopping.

    And yes Storm, if you're after one, i'd try as soon as possible as I can't see them being in stock again until after January.

      The only way it would be that high is becuase of the kids, I cant see parents intrusting there kids as easily with a £180 console to a £80 one =/. But then again this is mindblowing to read.

    Wow the DS must be good. I have a DS and I can say that the system desreves a great score. But even with that, over 47 MILLION sold?! It's only been out since 2004!

    Man, just about 10 million Wii consoles sold and almost 50 million DS portables sold.

    Incredible is the only word that can describe Nintendo's success
    right now. (mindblowing works too ) They deserve it, the Wii & DS are two very innovative and fun pieces of hardware.

    Nearing 50 million for the DS? I never even thought it was that much sales. That's pretty good for saling for almost 3 years.

    And I think now that the Wii maybe at 10 mil before the end of the summer.

    OK so will Sony's sales. Every console slows down and since you are saying the very popular Wii will slow down then the ps3 will slow down around the same period.
