New Soul Calibur In the Works

The soul still burns for Namco, as the company has announced that a new chapter in the ongoing weapons-based fighting series is in the works, complete with a new director to guide it in bold new directions!

    On topic, I loved soul calibur 2. Just loved it, I heard SC4 was bad so I never bought it but I just hope they don't mess it up this time.

      The freaking excellent news. Cant wait for another SC game.

      Lets just hope to goodness that they don't make any stupid deals with anyone like they did with SC4.

      Having those stupid Star Wars characters in it was just stupid, pathetic and totally moronic.

      Who ever did that should be shot dead!

      Ded Valve SC4 is a fantastic game. You should give it ago. It is the only descent fighter on the 360.

        Only decent fighter? So, DoA, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter, etc. don't count as good fighting games?

          Tenken i don't even know where to begin with that comment. So I'll do it in order.

          DOA is a joke of a game. I had that for the Dreamcast and it waas a broken unfair mess of a game. I tried the demo of DOA4 on 360 and nothing's changed.

          Tekken is the worst ever. My mate had Tag Tournament for his PS2 and do you know how many times he played it in 3 years. Around 3 times. I wanted to play him once but he warned me away from it. As a SC veteran himself he could see all the flaws with the game and told me I would hate it with it's crappy controls and stuff.

          I'll give you VF as that is an alright game. I have got VF5 for 360.

          SF has turned into a joke. I wouldn't touch it now if you paid me. I loved SF2: Special Championship Edition for the Genesis but they have turned it into a joke.

          I was given a copy of Super SF IV by my brother for Christmas and I wouldn't touch it if you paid me. It stll has it's security sticker wrapped around it.

          Since there is no demo's I was forced to look at the gallery and it has got the most horrendous cartoon graphics I have ever seen. It looks horrible.

          I do not play 2D games and I have grown out of playing games with comic book graphics.

          What have capcom done to it.

          SC is the greatest fighting series ever and once you have played that everything else is just garbage.

          Hahahaha, that is hilarious. Hoggys, do you know that SFIV follows SFII's style? You haven't even tried the game, that's sad, way to judge a book by it's cover. Also, because of tiers and that some characters surpass the rest with ease, most if not ALL fighters are broken. That's a poor argument to use for DoA.

          And besides, SC wasn't the first weapons-based fighter, before it was Battle Arena Toshinden.

        He never said SCIV was bad. He's calling you a troll because you're saying all the other fighting games suck, which speaks volumes about you depending on context.

        I thought you were a troll too. Sadly it seems that's just what you genuinely believe.

        Oh wow talk about calling the kettle black.Unless I got the wrong interpretation, you were the one to say you think Tekken is the worst fighter because a FRIEND told you so.Which to me implies that you are bashing a game that YOU haven't played.




        Yoshimitsue being added as an unlockable doesn't mean he is teh same one that is in Tekken.I don't know where you get the logic that just because he was in SC1 means he is the same one as tehe one in Tekken.I mean Tekken came before SC1 so you can't be saying that they are the same because he was in SC1 first.


        Anyway if they are the same Yoshi then his personality obviously changed over the centuries becase the on in SC1 acts completely different than he does in Tekken.He is a far more serious character in Tekken.

    SC1 is possibly the best game I've ever played. It is definitely the best fighter. SC2 was brilliant as well. 3 was okay but 4... 4 gave me cancer.

    And this is Namco, who don't have a track record for fixing games so much as piling in things the fans like (which means more redundant and useless moves, easier ways to be cheap and more focus on the *bleep*ing character design instead of the gameplay) so... eh.

      Agreed, I enjoyed the demo on the 360, and in Arcades.

      And I LOVED SC4, before I ran into the Ivy players who destroy you in a few seconds.

      Agreed. SC1 was damn near-perfect, loved it on the DreamCast. Namco just...fails with sequels I suppose. They try to draw in more fans, jam-pack the game with crap, and we get the mess that is SC4.

    Tekken is the king of fighting games imo.Play SC and everything else is garbage? I do really enjoy SC but give me a choice of SC or Tekken, sorry but SC can get stuffed.

    Tekken has better fighting, and better characters.I don't highly like any characters in SC other than Ivy.

    If Tekken is so bad then why is it one of, if not THE most played game in arcades and tournaments? Do they even have SC tournaments?


    Also do you have a mind of your own, or do you just listen to other people's opinions? You say Tekken is crap because your friend says so, sorry but I think that's rather pathetic. If you haven't played it then you can't say it's bad just because your friend says so.

      It is the same Yoshimitsu that appears in Tekken.

        To my knowledge, it has never been revealed if Yoshimitsu in Tekken and SC are the same person.If it has been revealed then I would like to read it.

        Anyway I prefer the way he looks and obviously plays in the Tekkens.

          Gamesta100 it is true about Yoshimitsu. He was added as an unlockable character in SC1.

          Both games are made by Namco.

          Also Heihachi appears in the PS2 version of SC2.

          Goto wikipedia and look up Yoshimitsu.

          Aside from the time-gap, they're pretty much the same character; same fighting styles, same personality, same tribe and goals in life, same everything. And since Yoshimitsu is a cyborg, he would live throughout SC all the way to the time-line of Tekken.

        That is NOT the same Yoshimitsu. They are alike, yes, but if you read their backstory, they are quite different. One has an aesthetic arm but is still human, one's quite alien/cyborg-like. The Yoshimitsu of SC aims for the sword's power like everyone else, and the Tekken Yoshimitsu is like Robin Hood.

    SCIV was pretty awful,, when it comes to fighting games at the moment I have two favorites: Street Fighter and Blazblue, those 2 games show off just what can be done in fighting games if you actually put effort into it.

    Not put Star Wars characters into a game were they don't even fit >_> But i'll probably try the new SC, but i'm with Hideo here, 4 was insanely bad.

    If it comes out, next year will be the year of the fighter!

    Marvel VS Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur 5... etc.
