God of War director forms indie studio, still buddies w/ SCEA

Wolfwood | July 27, 2007 | News | Playstation 2 Playstation 3
Sony Computer Entertainment America's David Jaffe, best known as director for the God of War action game series, confirms that he has left the company to form a new independant development studio called "Eat Sleep Play". Teaming up with Incognito Entertainment's Scott Campbell for the new label, Jaffe remains dedicated to game development on Sony's platforms despite having met with competitors. To this end, Eat, Sleep, Play has signed a multi-year exclusively deal with SCEA for 3 new titles. Eat, Sleep, Play will also develop the PS2 port of Twisted Metal: Head On, currently scheduled for release this Winter. According to an entry on Jaffe's blog:
Again, we are working with Sony and that just feels great. We met with some other interested parties but at the end of the day, Sony is our home, our family, and we’re really thrilled and honored they wanted to work with us and continue the relationship we’ve spent almost 15 years cultivating. So in many ways, it’s like very little has changed, other than the pay cut.

But it’s what we wanted: to go independent and see where we could steer our very own ship. Granted, our new ship is no longer the grand, unstoppable beast that is Sony. Instead, it’s a smaller vessel, scrappy even, manned with a crew of experienced sailors who felt the need to venture out into the unknown seas and and see what we could see. And the cool thing is, a small as our ship is, it’s not the least bit scary. It’s exciting as hell. It feels right; like the time is right, the crew is ready, and the grand voyage is just beginning.

They're porting Twisted Metal: Head On? Wasn't it a launch game for PSP? It was a good game and all, but is a port necessary?

So this means there is now an addition new Ps3 developers company making games for just them, or are they also doing the 360 and Nintendo Wii. Im just trying to understand if it is the same before hand.
