Several days ago, geohot was served papers and had his jailbreaking site shut down. Other members of fail0verflow may also be held liable despite residing in other countries. It would not be without legal precedent. Sony is a giant global corporation and gamers should not underestimate the aptly named long arm of the law.

I think people should be allowed the right to do as they please with whatever they buy . . . AS LONG AS IT AFFECTS ONLY THEMSELVES. Hacking and then helping others to hack the system, far exceeds themselves.

To be honest, I'm somewhat happy about this. This gen especially, I've seen people like this and people who follow suit, have such a high level of hautiness that they think nothing can touch them and they believe they can do whatever they want when they want it. It reminds me of a child who goes around saying "You're not my mommy, you can't tell me what to do!" And later the teen who cries out that they have rights, not fully understanding what those rights actually say and mean.

To me it's like glitching in games. Offline and among friends who don't mind just messing around, it's fine to me. But online where it affects others, it moves from having fun, to harassing and cheating.

And yes, I again hope Sony wins (but with some legal lines drawn so that the consumer is not stripped of all their own rights to their paid-for merchandise). Especially considering I don't want the PS3 to go the PSP route and lose so much support!
