Square Enix has announced during their 1st Production Department Premiere in Roppongi Hills the newest entry in the Fabula Nova Crystallis series: Final Fantasy XIII-2 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. FFXIII main character Lightning has been shown in the trailer shown at the event. The game is slated for a 2011 release.

    Yeah, saw this and shook my head. Such a short development time really worries me that this will just be a repeat of the first game.

    Not to mention that Square Enix can somehow manage to release not one but two full fledged games before they even touch Versus. But that's more of a personal thing.

    And obviously this means VsXIII will once again be delayed and now pushed into 2012 ; ;

    I'd rather they just focus on bringing out VsXIII for PS3 then even try and do a sequel to a lackluster and linear FF game =/

      Two different teams dude. I do not think FFXIII-2 will effect Versus in any way. The trailer for Versus already said 2012, so you are right about that, but I doubt it was delayed (considered we have heard so much about Versus already [/sarcasm])

        Yeah I know, I was just thinking that SE will want to delay Vs to get XIII-2 out first. I really hate though how VsXIII has changed dates so much now.

        I doubt we'll see it in 2012 now

    Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    The characters and story couldn't even hold up the first game little own a sequel. If they were looking to get back into the good books with Square fans this was not the way to do it (FFVII-2 maybe)

    Unless they open the game up and make it what FFXIII should have been, I'm not getting it.

    I don't understand why they insist on making games not many people would want. VsXIII, or a FFVII remake. Why this?

      Actually, there's a good chance that XIII-2 will outsell Versus XIII. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely excited for Versus XIII, but the fact that XIII-2 is both multiplatform and a main Final Fantasy Title gives it an advantage.

      There are a lot of people that don't even know Versus XIII exists (now, there's another conversation); it's really only well-known among people who closely follow these sorts of things.

    FFXIII was a good game, and FFVII was not the Holy Grail of all video games.

    Uh oh. The internet might blow up now.

    I still highly doubt that 13-2 will be out this year. SE doesnt put anything out on time. At least the Versus trailer had some gameplay, looked pretty KH like, which I love.

      Yeah, I'm loving the KH fight style, it looks fantastic on VsXIII. I wish that game was coming out this year and not XIII-2 =[
