Finally, Nintendo throws the game specific friend codes out the door and has 1 friend code for each system. It's just a shame that you can't have a username.

Part of what makes online gaming on Nintendo consoles such a hassle is that tedious Friend Code system. If you want to play with people you know, you have to enter lengthy multi-digit codes just to add them as a friend. And while some games do support randomized play for online games, there are usually restrictions in terms of the game modes and available characters.

Dead is one of the worse friend systems ever created. Having to use different codes for different games is just a royal pain. This will be a huge improvement.

This is a major improvement. Having to have a new friend code for every new game was stupid and unnecessary. I'm glad Nintendo is starting to learn.

They said this about the Wii 4-5 years ago. I suppose my point is twofold:
    1) This isn't new; they aren't "finally learning" when they implemented this plan years ago
    2) Despite their best intentions didn't SSBB have a different friend code? I could be wrong about that one
