The recently-released 3.56 firmware update is apparently preventing many users with the 16 MB flash Playstation 3 models from being able to upgrade to a new hard disk drive.

Wow. Even I think this is a pretty big hit. I don't have a new model but if I did, I'd be a little pissed off. I mean, some people are gonna have their PS3 for a very long time, and that HDD isnt gonna get bigger when you run out of space. This kinda sucks.

Blame those pathetic, I-don't-know-how-to-get-a-real-job, waste of flesh, hackers.

You mean the guys that'll force Sony to make security a higher priority with their next system? Yeah, screw them!

You make it sound like Sony didn't make security their highest priority with the PS3 which is why it took so long in the first place for this to happen at all.

Obviously I meant designing a better security system is a higher priority now than it would've been if say this never happened.

I'm going to again say that security was already their highest priority so I don't think this has changed much other than the fact they may go to otherwise unnecessarily extreme measures to prevent hacking now (serial keys, for example).

But without those pathetic, I-don't-know-how-to-get-a-real-job, waste of flesh, hackers there'd be no reason to make security a high priority with their next system.

        So yes, screw them

And without them, they wouldn't NEED to make security a high priority.

          Yes. Screw them.

...Wait that's exactly what he said.

Reaver is saying that without hackers, there wouldn't be a need to worry about security.

I think that he thinks that Hideo is saying that hackers are important because they force developers to make security a higher priority. I thought that's what Hideo was saying too, and apparently we were wrong.

Anyway if there weren't hackers, security wouldn't be an issue at all. There would be no need to defend the PS3 from hackers if hackers didn't exist.

It's a bit like saying that criminals are important to society because without them, we wouldn't need police officers.

          That's quite a nonsensical statement.

No crime AND no police officers? What's the problem with that?

It's the same deal with a system's security and those who wish to exploit it.

No, I'm saying that without hackers, there wouldn't be a need to worry about security.

How you can twist what I said into what you're saying I said (especially considering it was a sarcastic reply to Phil, the guy saying the opposite of what I said) I don't know. Just goes to show how obsessed with me you still must be, making things out of nothing and all

Yes I am obsessed with you.

I didn't mean to twist what you said. I honestly thought that I put what you said in different words to help Fatal Error understand.

I'm sorry if I misinterpreted you, and I'll even edit my post or delete it if you wish.

EDIT: Yeah, I just remembered I can't actually delete my own post, but I think I edited it in a way so that I don't misrepresent what you said.

Yeah I was just pointing out the reaver simply repeated exactly what Hideo1 said in the first place.
