Since the UFO glitch in Cod4 hackers/cheaters have got away with whatever they want on the PS3. With the recent PS3 update of 3.56 it seems Sony have granted power to Activision/Treyarch to ban anyone thats using Hacks online.

Previously the possibility of PSN bans was rumored for PlayStation 3 hackers, and today Ripten.com (linked above) has confirmed that CoD: Black Ops PS3 hackers are now being hit with the PS3 Firmware 3.56 ban hammer.

Whoa...this could be really good, or kind of bad.

I fear that people might end up getting banned just for being reported for hacking, even if they did nothing wrong. If that's the case, I'm going to be seriously pissed if it happens to me.

People report others for no reason all the time. I couldn't hack a calculator, much less a PS3, but I've had people accuse me of cheating and, supposedly, report me just because I've had a good game or two in a row.

Hopefully, if anything, they'll only ban someone only if there are several reports against him/her.

EDIT:Actually, you know what? I just remembered I don't play Black Ops anymore because I got tired of trying to enjoy it, so I actually could care less.

However, the points I mentioned above are still a possible issue for those who do still play Black Ops.

I'm pretty sure they will have people logging users activity, so if you did get reported they wouldn't ban you straight the way, they'll log you for X amount of time and if you are doing nothing wrong, they'll let it drop.

They can check to see if you installed an hacks onto your PS3 and if you are Prestige 15 they check to see how long you took to get there and that you actually did it legally.

If you head into the offical Black OP's forums there was a mod there earlier checking people that were claiming to be innocent.....not 1 person was.....

As long as they check that the people being reported actually are hacking then I support this.
