A recent study that was published Journal of Adolescent Health has found out that play violent video games do not increase the violence in kids. They looked at over 1,200 seven and eight graders and figured out that most 12-14 year olds played Mature rated games. The study also figured out that playing these violent video games can also help kids deal with stress and anger. They then sent a little message to the parents, saying that playing a violent game will not influence their kids to go pick up a gun and that these things are regular nowadays. Finally some support on this subject.

A new study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health has found that playing violent video games does not lead to violent behavior in teens. Researchers looked at more than 1,200 seventh and eight graders who played video games regularly. "We found that most boys 12-14 years old are playing mature-rated video games, so this idea that 'M' rated games cause shootings or major violence just doesn't hold water," said Cheryl Olson SC.D., Massachusetts General Hospital.

The study also found that violent video games can help teens deal with their emotions like stress and anger. The final message to parents about video games and their kids: "It's not going to ruin them, they're not going to go out and pick up a gun. Violent video game play is typical and normal for kids nowadays. That doesn't mean that parents have to like it, but they shouldn't panic about it," said Olson.

Good news for fans of violent games, violence seems like a cheap, forgettable addition to games to me. I do like in game fighting, but blood is generally thrown in at to high a level, if it were used in a way accurate to real life, and as a indicator of health for some killing methods, I wouldn't mind. But in a lot of games the characters seem to bleed their body weight.

Also, playing soothing games can calm you like a good therapy session. ICO, Katamari damacy, Lumines, they're good chillout games that reduce your stress levels.

Good news to finally hear from this but I will still not say it is enough, people will still blame games no matter what is said and if they do it will be all over the media yet again and gaming would still be in the same situation.
