Let the Sony/Nintendo fanboy backlash loose on this one... as Web trackers Hitwise reckon the Xbox 360's recent usurping of the Nintendo Wii as the 'most searched for console' online could be indicative of a massive impending sales surge. We have four words by way of reply. Death. Red. Of. Ring.

In what could be seen as a turn up for the books, web data tracker Hitwise reports that the Microsoft Xbox 360 has become the most searched for gaming console on the Internet based on a share of searches.

It is the first time that Microsoft's gaming powerhouse has surpassed the popularity of searches submitted for those seeking information on the Nintendo Wii since the latter was released in November 2006. Hitwise added that the statistics could be "a leading indicator predictive of future sales growth."

Its because mainly all of the consoles you've had never had something like RRoD problem.

Glad to see "Free Xbox 360" is in the category. =\

I understand you two saying about the red rings problem but do people actually search that in a toolbar for the information? It's so talked about over the internet I wouldn't have thought it needed to be possible to do so...
