Right Kaz, YOU may be focused on the PS3, but I guarantee you have an entire team working on the PS4. Speculation on the next generation of consoles is definitely going to start getting bigger and bigger (maybe even this E3, there will be an announcement)

Well if this is true then Sony can say goodbye to their home console domination as Microsoft more than likely won't be waiting, come November 2012 I can see their console being out.

Thats not always true, what was released first the Dreamcast or the PS2?

The Dreamcast but that was an entirely different situation.. EA pulled all support for the Dreamcast opting to wait for the next Sony console. Had the Dreamcast had support from EA with the Madden, Fifa, NHL and Formula 1 (at the time) then the Dreamcast would have faired a lot better.

In fact most industry experts attribute the Dreamcasts demise on the lack of EA support considering sports games are still largely the biggest selling games year in year out. I seriously doubt that if Microsoft released the next Xbox in 2012 that EA would pull support, it would mean for the year or two Sony isn't in the marketplace sports gamers would have only one place to go.

I won't say a delay in the PS4 would mean a win for Microsoft. Sony always starts off slow and ends up pulling ahead later on down the line. Microsoft hasn't exactly dominated this gen today, even though it came out before the PS3.

The thing that will mean win or lose for Sony is if they decide against a hardware-beast of a console for the next gen altogether and aim for 2,3, or even 4 portable-type gaming devices.

honestly, I want to see this generation last longer, I dont think it's been around long enough, I feel like everything is moving too fast for it's own good.

Closing in on 6 years for the Xbox 360.. Time has really flown and if this was last generation this coming E3 would be the E3 where the major players unveil new hardware.

I am more than happy to keep my PS3 for a long time. The graphics are great, I love the blu-ray capability. Even if Microsoft does come out with a new system I do not see how much they are going to improve. The PS3 has been improving just fine from its release and I would be more than happy to have it for 3-4 more years. I personally do not want to purchase another console yet.

You're echoing my thoughts almost exactly. As I stated when commenting on another article, the PS3 is extremely future proof. It's good for at least three more years.

No it isn't.. It has a pretty hot CPU yes, but for years developers have been moaning about the lack of RAM to the point where it amazes me how games like Crysis 2 are on the PS3 and 360. The consoles have 256Mb of RAM.. Crysis 2 on PC asks for 4Gb recommended.

Developers are now having to jump through hoops to make stuff work on these consoles as in many areas they are now incredibly dated. I mean my PC in 2001 had 1Gb RAM how the hell can a console launch in 2006 with 256Mb, I don't care how fast Sony say it is with RAM quantity normally prevails.

If 256Mb of RAM is enough to create games like Uncharted 2 and Infamous, then I really don't care.

If the developers want more then that's a different story. But for me the games don't need an upgrade yet. The titles were and still are excellent.

The PS3 can indeed last 3, even 5 more years. However, that doesn't mean Sony's next gen console has to wait that long. Look at the PS2 and PS3 scenario.

It's weird when the 360 and PS3 was first announced it couldn't come out sooner, but now having either seems way to early to release.

Even the 360 can last as long as PS3, we won't need another gaming platform until at least 2013.
