The recent rumors of a price drop the Xbox 360 have been "leaked" and confirmed by Circuit City's flyer. All models of the 360 have each gotten their own reasonable pricecut. The Premium took a $50 pricecut and is now $350. The Core took a $20 pricecut and is now $280. The Elite has also had a $30 pricecut and is now $450.

In the wake of the Wal-Mart flyer and the Toys R Us flyer, now comes the Circuit City flyer sent to Joystiq showing that beginning Aug. 12 the Xbox 360 premium will be $350, the Elite will be $450 and the Core will have a $20 break and be $280.

This still doesn't explain the fate of the Core once these units sell out, but the Xbox 360 price drop is looking more and more legit. Plus, if you purchase at Circuit City, it looks like you'll get Rockstar's Table Tennis for free. Don't forget to pick up your 3200 worth of MS points for $20 at Circuit City this week too.

That's good enough I think. It should help out with sales, even if it is just a little bit. This price cut is better than nothing

Well it's about time this is confirmed. That puts the Elite down to $430, sweet.

The Elite still isn't even out yet to buy in the UK (4 more or so weeks left now) and already the price is getting reduced elsewhere, no fair!

But hey, think about it this way: when it does come out in the U.K., at least it will alreadybe at a reduced price.

That just seems somewat unfair. The Uk market never seems to get price cuts, just stupid offers ¬¬

So, Microsoft is desperate to keep their lead. Well, I think that they won't keep their lead, since the Wii is pretty much tied with the Xbox 360, but this could boost sales a bit. A good time to buy a Xbox 360!

LMAO! That's a shitty excuse for a price drop!

Really? I thought a price drop induced by lack of sales is much more pathetic... but that's just me. Not every console drops $100 right after launch. Doesn't that tell you somethings wrong?

Besides, none of this is confirmed. But an Elite at $429.99-$449.99 is sexy.

20$ price cut? XD 30$? Lol, 50$? What?

I mean, they could do better than that. Maybe life time warranty? If they did that, they wouldn't be making any money.

You guys act as if a huge price cut within two years of a console's launch is expected. C'mon, seriously...

Why not i mean you claim that MS gained money and profit, surely they can allow a bigger one than this.

For your earlier comment no PS3 afforded a price cut due to Low cost of materials and manufacturing. XBox price cut was due to lack of sales and problems.

Ahem, last I checked, PS2's first price drop was about $50. This is a good price if you ask me, you could use the $50 you get off to get a year for Xbox Live. A few buds said they'd get the console if they have some kind of price drop...even if it's $30 or so they'll get it.

Plus, the new Elites has been confirmed to avoid the Red Ring of Death now. And unless they're stupid they would do that for the other systems.

Also, what's wrong with these price drops? Sony had some trouble, they had a price drop within less than a year of release of $100. Xbox 360 started having a similar problem including hardware flaws and a year and a half after release they have minor price cuts of $20-$50. That's business. No "excuses."

People who are against a system just seem to get superhappy, laugh like crazy, and cream themselves when a certain console has a problem. A flaw (whether it'd be hardware or just how the console is) is nothing to stroke your e-penis about. =/

I wasn't talking to you. I was just saying, not directed to anyone. And I never said there was anything wrong with either price drop. They both had to be done. I'm saying stuff like that happens and each were reasonable. Just that some people can overreact when one of their console rivals "give in."

The problem with this is that price isn't a big factor for the 360 unlike the PS3 where the price is its only real barrier

It is nice to see they are offering the price cut, I do not think it has anything to do with cutting the lead, other then reducing it nicely before the release of Halo so more people may get the console a better price because of this.

Finally Microsoft has dropped charging Premium for the 360. Sales should definitely increase since price is a big factor in this generation of consoles.

What! after a yer and 8 months they only take out 50 bucks!. Cheap.

Why cut the price if it's selling so well? Not to mention they were losing about $150-$200 on every X360 sold. After about six months, they dropped the price of the Xbox to $199 and that didn't help them at all. They're learning from their mistakes.

no they haven't it didn't help due to lack of games, not price. This tome it will happen again.
