It’s been 25 years and 2 days since the Japanese release of The Legend of Zelda, the first game of the series. Here is an article praising some of the innovations and gives readers some facts that they may have not known.

Shigeru Miyamoto wanted to give gamers happiness from his childhood that he described is like a “miniature garden that they can put inside their drawer.” His inspiration came from the fields, woods, and caves outside Kyoto that he had explored as a boy, and he has always tried to impart this sense of exploration and limitless wonder to players through his Zelda titles. No one has had more influence on the gaming industry as he has and very few series’ have given so much as The Legend of Zelda has given.
