Call of Duty Black Ops Voted ‘Best Game Ending’ Of All Time
13 hours 17 mins ago
The game doesn't even have a specific release date and it is already being critisized for racism. After the revealing of the trailer in E3, a blog website dedicated for African women criticized the game. Here is a quote from the blog.
The new Resident Evil video game depicts a white man in what appears to be Africa killing Black people. The Black people are supposed to be zombies and the white man's job is to destroy them and save humanity…
This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young... fearing, hating, and destroying Black people.

IMO...they should just shut the hell up and get over themselves.
And I lol'd at the last part.
Look everyone, its obvious the people in charge of the blog have no knowledge of the Resident Evil series, or maybe even games in general, so you shouldn't be surprised that they said nothing about the Spanish people in RE4 or any other; that should be common sense. The point I do agree with, is that racism does start young and it is taught. Nobody is born a racist. However, children (once again) should not be playing Resident Evil 5 and the responsibility lies on the parents.
And for the record, black people are not inhuman savages, human beings are. The sad thing is that the ignorant people of this world don't even know they are ignorant.
The post was very amateur and imo needs to be pulled. If you read through all the comments absolutely no one agreed with her racist frame of mind. I did not even think of the whole "racism" side of RE5 until her article. Why must people always play the "race" card?
She's not even African American! "for this white girl". So, where was she for all the other Resident Evil games? where was the rants and complaints from her about oppression and racism in RE4 where they were all Spaniards? She PHAILs at journalism.
Anyway to delete this shit?
I'm not speaking for the entire race, but it seems to me that blacks are the ones keeping racial issues alive. Why think of it as a white man killing black men when it's intended to be a man killing other men? Blacks want racial equality, but they're the ones who keep on separating themselves from everyone else.
I guess the Tyrant in RE2 was prejudice as well; he killed a lot of people and some happened to be black. Holy shit.
And how exactly is an M-rated game marketed to young kids? Don't you have to be 17-18 to buy this shit? However, a ten year old can walk into a music store and buy any popular rap CD, which usually promotes violence, sexism and criminal activity.
Yeah, nice logic there.
So even though people said it's set in Africa and they are black there, then it's still racism. And racism is not right, it's illegal.
We've yet to hear an official outcry from the race and cultures concerned however, so much of this is blog-style saber rattling.
Honestly, people in Africa are usually African. I don't see what's wrong with that. My German friend doesn't mind Call of Duty or any of the other slew of WWII games. I've seen a number of games exclusively killing people of my race. Do I care? No. I don't just look at skin colour. It isn't intended for racial purposes. I'm sick of people saying "Well, the people are of [insert race here], so it must be racist!!!". Capcom has had American zombies and Hispanic villagers before. They aren't attacking the human Black population now. Expecting people of a certain race to get a certain form of treatment is racial seperation.
Sometimes it isn't even black people complaining, it's some old white fag who thinks just because a african person gets hurt, it's instantly racist because of past reasons.
I'm sure there'll be protesting sooner or later.
This fact itself is indicative of how the game capitalizes on our already existing preconceived conceptions and fear of black people. To the developers, the fact that the enemies were BLACK was scary enough. They didn't need to add an extra layer of dead-ness or zombie-ness... They just had to make them look like "violent black people" and it's enough to scare the shit out of you, as evidenced by comments in response to the trailers.
And to the people that complain that it's black people that keep the race issue alive...
Of Course Black People Will Keep The Issue Alive! Who else will? Will the white people in power want the public to keep questioning the US's history of slavery and injustice toward black people, and the continuation of that prejudice that keeps many from equal oppurtunities like jobs and education? No! White people get annoyed whenever the race issue comes up. Just read all the above comments. It is hard to know what it is like to be in the shoes of the wronged and oppressed. White people will not want to talk about the issue, even when things are clearly racist. They enjoy the benefits of the structure of a racist society. If black people do not continue to talk about race and persist in demanding fairer treatment, who else will?
After all, Japan isn't the most racially-diverse country... But rather than staying in "safe ground" and basing RE5 in a typical city/mansion area, Capcom have gone out on a limb and introduced the RE series to a completely new type of location - the African jungle.
So I think it's pretty brave of them to base the game around Africa and Africans, with the risk of being deemed as "stereotyping black people" or "being racist".
And if they were racist, wouldn't they make a JAPANESE man kill the Africans, as opposed to a white person?
Instead, they are depicting zombies as inhuman savages ... just as they have during the entire RE series.
Clearly the article-writer has missed the few black people who have been on the good side, in previous RE games. They weren't depicted as savages... And why is that? - because they weren't zombies.
