At the EB Games website, it shows that Lair is going to be delayed until September 4th, pushing back from the original August 12th. Gamefly shows more evidence, changing their release date to September 6th. I wonder what could be causing the delay. It's only less than a month, so maybe it's just a little issue that needs fixing. Loot Ninja expects it to get blown away or "overshadowed" if it's true because it's releasing on the same day as Heavely Sword.

According to EB Games, Lair has been delayed until September 4th from it’s previously scheduled August 12th release date. Gamefly has also changed it’s release date, but they’re showing September 6th (most likely to account for getting enough copies in to rent to customers). Screenshots taken in case they change it back (EB Games above, Gamefly after the jump).

We’ve previously heard the game has gold gold directly from Sony. What could be causing the delay? Either they pulled the game to fix a last minute issue or they ran into some production problems. Either way, this doesn’t bode well for Sony.

The game looks now to be releasing on the same date as Heavenly Sword. If this rumor proves to be true, Lair will certainly get overshadowed.

Yeah, I saw that article right after I submitted this. Shame. Lair is going to get overlooked now. Well, most likely.

nobody likes heavenly sword. it's just tomb raider without guns.

Actually, a lot of people love the demo and have said they will definitely be buying Heavenly Sword now :-\ And I am appalled by your Tomb Raider comparison.

It sucks how they are both coming out at the same time now. I am getting them both, but for those without tons of cash Heavenly Sword will be the more popular choice.

I just submitted a article, which needs to be excepted and it stated that the reason for the set back is because of online functions which Sony have not really added in there previous games before. And don't forget the 2 9/10 reviews. Im sure they beat the 6/10 one =/

Heavenly Sword will take sales, but more likely because it's just a better game mechanically. The experience was just one up overall in comparison to Lair which looked amazing but ended up getting dull fast. Hopefully the final presentation was cleaned up over what they had just in July so those really stuck on eyecandy can validate it that way.

Personally if I was putting down my money. I'd go Heavenly Sword over Lair based on what Sony was pushing in private for the demo.

I think Lair, however, is a better showcase for the PS3, and the SIXAXIS. The graphics are nothing short of mesmerising, especially when looking at the oceans and environments. The SIXAXIS control is fantastic; it's a perfect example of how PS3's new controller can be used pivotally within games, creating a fun and intuitive experience.

When I played Lair side by side with MotorStorm and Resistance in September last year, it held its ground with considerable foritude. Resistance was just another shooter. MotorStorm was, fundementally, just another racer. But Lair was something completely new, and I think it's this that will esnure Lair doesn't get overshadowed by Heavenly Sword, which could easily be passed off as another God of War/Prince of Persia inspired adventure.

Honestly it's not much of a comparison to put up, 2 launch titles versus a developing title. Lair is fun to an extent, but the visuals are the backbone of the game, the sixaxis worked well but given a year of development extra I'd hope it was still amazing.

The problem with a lengthy demonstration of lair going on is that you experience a lot more of what the game is delivering. The visual impact kinda died when i was headbutting dragons for 15mins in the same region with new fire animations being applied throughout the city.

I have a feeling Heavenly Sword will sell better to the masses but Lair will appeal to gamers looking for something unique
