With the release of the Pokémon Black and White last Friday, a good position in the charts was almost guaranteed. While it was practically inevitable one of them would go straight to number one (with the other, by extension, getting to number two), what's slightly surprising is that neither of them claimed the title of fastest selling DS game.

That's held, perhaps also surprisingly, by Professor Layton and the Lost Future. However, mathematically, combining the sales of of Black and White would put them in front, with the difference in sales being only 13,000.

The launch was the third biggest Nintendo has done in the UK, with and Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit being the top two.
