It seems that Meta Critic users aren't too fond of the simplified changes to Dragon Age 2 from its predecessor, scoring the game between 0 and 1 to bring the score down.

User review scores have always been a great way for dissatisfied gamers to speak out against a product, and it seems Dragon Age II is the latest victim. Aggregate site Metacritic has seen the overall user review score for Dragon Age II plummet as angry fans have posted 0-1 out of 10 scores. The issue, many believe, is the new direction Bioware has taken the series, making it more approachable and action-oriented.

I think the whole mass negativity on Metacritic was a 4chan thing. Leave it to that cesspool of a crowd to *bleep* up anything that involves the internet.

I've heard specific complaints about the combat being too simple, the game being too short, the art style not being identical to Origins, etc. In short, people are gonna bitch about anything they can (especially if they frequent 4chan).

The combat is identical to Origins on PC, minus a few tweaks here and there to iron out the wrinkles from Origins. It is exactly as complex as Origins, if not more so. As for the length, I'm at ~20 hours played; this is having skipped quite a few quests and I believe I'm nearing the halfway point.

Is the game perfect? Nope, but I'm having a hell of a good time playing it, and it's already made my short list for 2011.

It was a 4chan thing. For whatever reason they chose this game to attack.

I don't blame them, the game probably deserves those scores.

Have you, or any of the other 4chan geniuses, actually played the game?

No competent game deserves that score. You're a fool for even mentioning it.

it does not deserve those scores. its not perfect but those scores were nothing but trolling. they simplified some things but they improved on others and i think the improvements outweigh the downsides pretty well. the Meta score of 83 is a really fair score for it.

truth be told its not like the big improvement from ME1 to ME2, but then again Mass Effect was always their main series while Dragon Age is like their side project series.

TBH, I can see why people are upset, but it's much better if you look at it objectively. It seems like it's more mindless but it's actually a bit more engaging, I just wish they had a difference between tapping attack or holding it. I think that would make all the difference, but once you get enough attacks to fill out your hotkeys it becomes moot anyway.

That, and the controls on PC are pretty much the same as Origins. They just work better, which is never cause to complain. From a gameplay standpoint, DA2 is arguably much better than Origins. My only minor complaints were from the story, and even those are just me nitpicking and wanting some damn answers! Haha. But the fact that I care that much shows how well-done the story is in the first place.
