A 12 year old boy from California ran away after his parents took away his game, World of Warcraft. He was given the game for his birthday and he's been playing continuously, sometimes 15 hours at a time, nonstop. The parents took the game away, worrying about the addiction. The boy then disappeared. Then, her son called them, hours later, saying that he was hiding in his friend backyard. He then returned, and was allowed to play occasionally.

At least he didn't burn down his house and kill someone.

A 12-year-old boy from California reportedly ran away from home after his parents took away his World of Warcraft video game. According to Stanton Weekly, the parents of 12-year-old Damien Rollins decided to take away his World of Warcraft video game after they say he became addicted to it. That night, the 12-year-old apparently left his room and vanished.

“It got to the point at which he would play all day and throughout the night. More than 15 hours nonstop sometimes,” said Dorothy. After looking for hours, the parents finally gave up and called the local authorities. When police arrived, Dorothy received a phone call from her son. After his World of Warcraft was taken away, Damien apparently became upset and stayed in hiding at a friend’s backyard before making the call home.

“He’s learned his lesson. We’ll let him play the game occasionally, but not for hours and hours at a time,” Dorothy said.

If you're going to do it, do it right. Wasted attempt.

Nice reference to the article about the kid who burned down his house
But seriously, why would you run away because of a stupid game? I have had my games taken away for months for punishment and I didn't even think of running away.

What is with people these days? I wouldn't run away because my parents took away my game(s). Worst thing is that he's only 12. Maybe when he hit 14 or 15 and they take away his game again, he'll burn down that house. That'd be sad.

    Quoted for truth.

Regardless of the situation, this kid is an idiot that takes video games way too seriously. What's a twelve-year-old doing playing WoW, anyways ?

Kids these days, the newer generations sure bring in more *bleep*ed up people like this kid. Did he not even stop and think of the reason he was running away? Over pixels?

    Argh.

Running away from getting a game taken away for playing it for half the day? Man that is a REALLy bad reason to run away and (possibly) die for. And it World of Warcraft! Good hell!

MMORPGS world of warcraft in particular are very addictive to both kids and adults a lot more so then regulary games usually are. Playing 15 hours a day isn't healthy really.

I love this planet, I really *bleep*ing do.

That kid must be mental to be able to play 15+ hours at a time. my eyes would be killing me after 30 minutes straight.

How do you play any games? D:

I play WoW (haven't for months) and thankfully I never became 'addicted' to it. I've been Level 34 for over half a year

I would think 12 years old would be a little too old to be running away over something as silly as this. Maybe like 8 or 9 at the most...

If you are addicted to a game enough, you do not have a failed attempt at running away. You fight for it back so he fails big time. xD
