In a recent analysis by research firm IHS iSuppli, they report the Nintendo 3DS costs $103.25 to make including the $2.54 manufacturing cost. The bill of the Nintendo 3DS's materials is roughly 33% than the it's predecessor the Nintendo DSi.

With all of this in mind does this mean that the extra $150 dollars is the cost for all software included with the 3DS?

The combined cost of the upper 3D stereoscopic display and the lower touch screen -- both from Sharp -- is $33.80, making them together the most expensive components.

Most everything you buy costs way more than it takes to make. doubling your money on a product is usually considered a small profit margin.

Add in shipping, software, R&D costs, marketing/promotion, and the cut retailers get, and you realize why the thing is so expensive.

It's not even that expensive? (In my area at least)
The price of the 3DS at launch is $50 cheaper then it is to buy a PSP GO now, long time after it's launch.
