NHL 08 two new features.

Final Blade | August 03, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
NHL 08 to have two new features to give realism to the sport of hockey. One is create a play, in which you can create up to 70 possible plays to attack your opponent. Some are 2-man and 3-man rush plays and all of your in-zone plays - including powerplays.

Next and big one out of the two is on the fly AI. In which the CPU can actually decipher your moves b4 the puck is dropped. And if you use a certain tactic like speed game or Using your star player, the opposition can break your strategy. It really puts the meaning into "CPU as someone who is coaching against you."
These AI adjustments will learn your tendencies not just during one game, but over the course of multiple games. Think about how this would work during the playoffs – the deeper you go into the playoffs, the harder it will be to win, because the CPU will already know how you play before the puck is dropped. A good analogy is to think of the CPU as someone who is coaching against you. It really feels like you are playing another user all the time because they are constantly adjusting, just like I would do if my opponent kept doing the same play over and over again.

The ability for the CPU to shut down your money plays adds a tremendous amount of depth and longevity to our game because if forces you to change and create new strategies and to really concentrate on having a balanced attack. Not only will you see the AI adjust to your style of play during a course of a game but you will also hear Gary Throne and Bill Clement comment on what you and your opponent are doing throughout the game. To help you adjust your style of play to your opponent, there are Game scouting reports in between periods to let you know how you can shut them down. ‘On the Fly AI’ really gives truth to the statement “no game is ever the same.”

I have seen the 2 recent trailers on this to do with trick skill or something like that, and I gotta say the way they have applyed it and controle towards it look simply and easy to do. I for one would not mind giving it a go.

As I am not a hockey fan, don't keep up to date with the teams in real life and barely know the rules of the game when I come to play an NHL game it's all the same. NHL 08 will be same fun as all the previous versions for me, rent it maybe, get a few achievements, have fun, sorted.
