Originally scheduled for a late Holiday 2011 release, creative director Fumito Ueda explained that the delay is necessary "to provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfill First Party Studio's obligations," but he was quick to reiterate that the development team is working as fast as they can while maintaining the high quality expected from a First-Party Studio.
