id Software have released information on building on existing franchises for multiple consoles. The first title they plan on building on is a new Wolfenstein with both Threewave Software and
Raven Software working on it. This will arrive to the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Just on the smaller note Return to Castle Wolfenstein is being made into a movie. Also announced was 2 new Quake titles. 1 being Quake Arena Arcade for the Xbox 360, but this will only be a Arcade game and this is being developed by Pi Studios. The 2nd title being Quake Zero which is a free web based installment being worked on by
id Software.
At this week's QuakeCon, id Software revealed several new FPS titles based on existing franchises in development for multiple platforms.
First up, id confirmed that a new Wolfenstein title is in the works for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Raven Software is handling primary development on the title, although Threewave Software is working on the multiplayer component. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is also being made into a live action movie, with Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction, The Rules of Attraction, Beowulf) writing and directing the movie. Producer Samuel Hadida is also onboard for the movie, with Hadida and Avary working together most recently on the Silent Hill movie.
Also announced were two new installments in the Quake franchise. QUAKE Arena Arcade is in development for Xbox 360, and as the name suggests will be released on the Xbox Live Arcade. It's being developed by Pi Studios in partnership with Microsoft. Also announced was QUAKE Zero, a free web-based installment (presumably ad-supported) in the franchise being worked on by an internal team at id Software. If it's as close to the real thing as Coca-Cola Zero, we should be in for something special.

The last Wolfenstein kicked ass.
Except the movie. I hate when video games are turned into movies. They never turn out right.
