In this stat report, we see how well the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii are doing Japan. In July, I4U News reports that the Wii outsold the PS3 4 to 1. Nintendo almost getting 400,000 and the PS3 a little over 90,000. However, a separate report from Gamesindustry.biz shows that in the last week of July, the PS3 sold nearly 30,000 units, double of the week before. Then it shows that the Wii sales actually dropped during that ending week. With a respective 77,000 in the last week, it's still doing good, but the gap is closing.
More proof that statistics can be used to prove pretty much any view you like. There've been several reports on how Wii and PS3 are doing in Japan this week, yet with two considerably different spins on their respective fortunes.
How so? Well, I4U News is reporting that Wii outsold PS3 by over 4 to 1 in July - Nintendo flogged 396,752 consoles compared to Sony's 91,987 (for the record, Xbox 360 shifted a meagre 17,970 units in the month). PS3's rubbish, eh?
But hang on a minute. A seperate report from Gamesindustry.biz points out that in the last week of July, Sony sold 28,829 PS3s - double the previous week - while sales of Wii actually dropped in that period. Although it still sold 77,000 units in that last week - that's not quite three times PS3's total, so the gap is narrowing. Wii's rubbish, eh?
Like I said, you can prove anything with statistics.

PS3 sales are getting so high though. I'm thinking they're gonna be selling out at Christmas.
But seriously I not surprised by this
Good for Sony though, although I have a feeling some of those were bought by woman offended by Microsofts latest campaign.
It's nice to see that Sony are finally picking up sales, so maybe it will be a prettier road ahead of Sony now. The gap won't close for a long time, if ever, in my opinion.
I'm not sure how this will go in the long run, however. Will the Wii continue to drop? Will the PS3 continue to rise? I'd consider this more of a short-term trend for now, but it could continue.
I know somebody who hates nintendo, and likes the xbox and PS3 the best...
