You would expect that a console that has sold over 86 million units would bring nothing but joy to its producer. This is not the case for Nintendo and the Wii. Check out the full article to see what Nintendo boss said of the matter.

I am happy to see their regret. They sold out to make money and it clearly didn't bring them happiness. This puts more fuel on the fire that the next Nintendo console is going to be a beast that lacks much of the casual gimmicks.

Dang, they really want to do good, don't they? I'm glad that they know they can still improve though. The Wii was amazing, and I'm glad they aren't really letting themselves know that. ;-; It tells us that they'll do a hell of a lot better in the future.

They're actually regretting the fact that it completely alienated a core group of gamers, not so much that they felt the console was weak or whatever.

Yup, their basically saying "Hey, Hardcore gamers, were so damn sorry! We hope that our next console will actually be GOOD for you"

The amount of GOOD first party games pales in comparison to all the shovelware and casual crap that is on the Wii right now.

What, all this time with the Wii out, and only 1 ported Zelda Game(Its a port and you guys know it, a last minute gimmick for the wii's first release and also on the Gamecube),1 original zelda(which may or may not be put on the next system),New Super Mario bros Wii, 2 Mario Galaxy games, I can go on and on.

Nintendo needs to step up. I have not touched my Wii in months, the last good title was Donkey Kong Country Returns for me, and ebfore that was Galaxy 2.

I don't see that so much being the problem. It's that third party developers aren't able to make games the same quality as Nintendo because they don't have good enough support for them. I mean, obviously some is just throw out shovelware, but there are some games that genuinely attempted to be good, and couldn't do it.

They stated that better support for other devs as a goal, but I'm probably not going to be an early adopter on this one.
