Yesterday, Sony issued a statement to the U.S. government about what happened during the hacker intrusion. They placed blame on the hacker group, Anonymous. Now, Anonymous has issued a statement regarding Sony’s accusations.

    As I've seen said elsewhere, Anonymous can't make any statement like this stick. They're not an organisation or company, they have no way of telling what members of the site are and aren't doing.

    Also, a press release? Doesn't that usually involve gathering some journalists and speaking to them? Unless the article meant a media release.

    And like anyone is going to believe what they have to say. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, maybe someone was only acting alone. Who knows. But the evidence is against them.

    Considering that any hacker can just claim they are anonymous it seems very unlikely that anonymous did do it since they are not a group of hackers nor an individual hacker. It's a name that came from /b/ that was given to hackers that never revealed themselves for obvious reasons.

    The people at anon that claimed they didn't do it probably didn't do it. Anon is just a name given to unknown hackers so it's impossible to give Anonymous a voice. But of course it always looks good when your hunting legends.
