At an EB Games store, there was a sign up with the cover that looked pretty real on Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii. They were taking reservations for the game, but that's not what really caught the eye. It was that Sonic the Hedgehog, which there has been a debate on whether he's in it or not, standing behind Mario.

For months, Nintendo and Sega hinted at putting Sonic the Hedgehog into Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Well, it appears an EB Games in Woodbridge Center, NJ, leaked the news. An ad for the upcoming fighter, featuring professional looking box art, prominently displays the blue blur on its cover, along with classic Nintendo characters Birdo (Super Mario Bros. 2) and K.K. Slider (Animal Crossing), among others.

Retailers create mock-ups all the time, but most if not all of them look crude and unprofessional. This looks somewhat legit, especially with the E10+ ESRB rating (the ESRB's Web site doesn't feature a listing for this game).

This is a fake, the pictures along the sides are identical to a box cover that was proved fake about a month ago.

Still looks fake to me. The lighting on Sonic doesn't seem to match up with everyone else.

It would be cool to have him in it though.

But then nor dose Pikacu to be perfectly honest. I can see him coming out on the game.. Why would they not try and get him and I think they got him.

Pirahna Pete? RayMan? LoZ:WW Link? Birdo? Baby Bowser? I don't think so.

It looks like it was made from random graphics, and likely was by someone at EB.

Fake, I don't know if it's different in other regions but the top border that shows it's a Wii game is a slightly different shape than the regular ones.

I think it is fake. Sure they are haveing Animal Crossing things in brawl, but i don't think they will have K.K. Slider in as a playable character. Same with Pirahna Pete, and a couple other characters. Also, looking at the characters shown on the front, Pikachu and Link are the same pictures from the website, uping the chance it is a fan made box art.

The image of Snake is from official artwork too, from the old Dojo site. And Samus artwork looks like official art for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Well, Snake is actually the character model itself (the picture is still around IGN, actually) and yes, the Samus image is from Corruption, not Brawl. Obviously fake, really.

Even the bar on the top is the old one, the one seen in early placeholder boxarts pre-launch.

The lighting for each and every one is completely different. Plus, they won't have a corny "everybody stand by eachother" pose.

    110% fake.

Edit: K.K. Slider is not an actual player, and Birdo *hopefully* isn't even in the game.

I think it's fake. Like MrSponget9 said, the Wii bar at the top is different from what I know. I don't think I'd like that cover anyways.

It was an obvious fake when it surfaced a month ago, and still is just as fake. Look, they even used old artwork for Fox!

I (like many of you) saw this a month or so ago and got told it was fake. How the workers at EB have not realised this as a fake boxshot and actually bothered to take the time to make the sign and put it up is beyond me.

Totally fake, a countless number of reasons why it is fake, most being said above. Also I can assure you that the Brawl cover will look far more sexier.

The main picture looks pretty real. To me anyway. But then when you see Birdo, K.K. Slider, Pirahna Pete, and Baby Bowser on the cover, you have to know it's fake.

I encourage everyone to keep an eye out for phony box art. I doubt we want to see false alerts each time.

The main image looks good, but... not really SSB fare, considering the last two SSB games had boxart of the characters fighting, not just in a group photo.

I highly doubt we will see the boxart until we buy the game.

The thing that shows that it is a fake cover is that K.K. Slider is on the front in the box of a playable character. We already know that he is an NPC character in the game, so he will not be one of the fighters.
