After the SCEA refused to lower the price of the Playstation 3 in Europe they planned on offering us the Starter Pack to make up for it but it now turns out that this is only a summer promotion and will be taken of the shop shelves at a predetermined date, states an Official Email From Sony.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe refused to lower the price of the PS3 in Europe, instead opting to release a new better value Starter Pack. This includes two first-party PS3 games and two Sixaxis controllers for £425.
However, it looks as though this bundle will only be available for a limited time, ending after the summer.
"I was sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with regards to the launch of the PlayStation 3 Starter Pack," reads an email from SCEE to a PlayStation 3 customer. "I would like to take this opportunity to stress that this is a summer promotion and that due to the nature of this offer it will end on a predetermined date."
Sony has confirmed that the email is real, but refuses to confirm that the Starter Pack is a limited time deal, noting that it will be on sale "for the foreseeable future".
Sony is expected to make some major announcements at the upcoming Games Convention in Leipzig, and it would come as no surprise to hear about the European release of the 80GB PS3.
