It's no surprise that people are getting a tad perturbed at Sony for the whole PSN 'issue'. As a result, Sony is seeing a dramatic decline in PS3 sales and the stats are starting to show where those sales are going instead.

After almost a month of the PSN being out of commission, Sony's PS3 is suffering in the sales department. Edge magazine reported that retailers in the UK are seeing a massive increase in people trading in PS3 systems. Many are reportedly trading them in for cash, but a good amount are using the trade and putting it towards the purchase of Sony's major competitor, Xbox360.

Ha. Ha. Haaaaa. This is amazing. If we see a price drop now because of it, I can see myself purchasing one though. Double standards much?

It's ironic this is happening NOW, considering the service is due to begin coming back online within days. How reliant on internet are you that when you can't play online that you outright sell your console, abandon all the $60 games you bought and switch consoles?

We didn't want you guys on our network anyway. So long.

It doesn't bother me on a personal level, but I'm just shocked that some people are so impatient and immature. I dunno, I just expected more of people.

Some people are so dependent on online. Most of the people who are switching to 360 don't care about exclusives and just want their daily dose of CoD or any other generic shooter.

true Paradox. seems to be becoming more and more the norm and more popular, playing shooters online. i hope it doesnt become so prevalent that developers begin to just stop bothering to do single player altogether. i doubt it would happen large scale but if the majority of gamers only come for online...

I wonder how many of these people are up to date on everything. I mean, some of them may not even know what's going on with the network and actually think it's "under maintenance". If that's the case, I get it. You're tired of the network always down, can't play online, can't purchase stuff off the store; always "under maintenance".

Then you got the impatient little *bleep*s who can't live without online play. At this point, trading in their console just makes them look like whiny little bitches, especially since the network will be back within days (maybe hours???). But hey, if all you want is to play COD online, then go ahead. It'll help clean up the filth on the PSN.

Funny, one website says sales have risen yet this article says the sales have dropped.

Note: Online isn't everything, it's funny, the amount of people I see/hear get wound up about how the servers are shit, it's laggy and they hate it etc are the same people cmplaining that there is no online on the PS3 at the minute and they'll be the same people moaning about it once it's back up.

    And repeat.

I think this article is only for the UK. I read too that PS3 sales are on the rise, but not in Europe. It's outselling the 360 by 20,000 a week in Japan

Metallica.. The April sales figures were quite high but there were 20 days of April before the shit hit the fan. The real figures will be from May which I assume will have plummeted and I also believe that many retailers will start coming out with figures of how many PS3 trade-in's they have had since the outage.

This could be easily fixed if Square announces KH3 as a PS3 exclusive at E3.

    COME ON SQUARE PLEASE.

Yup, I've seen people making threads about it "How much can I get for my PS3 and Black Ops and will it be enough to pay for a 360 and Black Ops"

        Impatient and pathetic.

I've never seen what the deal was with the hype with the CoD games. They're fun but not amazing. Then again I'm a hardcore RPG fan so I take an RPG game(or Twisted Metal) over CoD anyday.

Kind of glad I got my PS3 cheap and my 360 cheap.

It makes no sense. If I loved playing online, and say I loved playing a certain game online, it's not like I'm gonna give up all my games and trade the. In along with my system JUST to play that game online.

People who who are this desperate to play online seriously have no life.

MGS4 and the Uncharted series are enough to make me want to get a PS3 again at some point. i had one before but needed money. i purchased Fat Princess and had some good times but even if PSN stayed down for a lot longer i would have plenty of fun with just those 3 games up there, and Uncharted 3.

also didnt get to delve into Heavy Rain as much as i wanted at my friends house so that might be up there. point is i have zero desire to play PS3 online, flat out. except for the occasional Fat Princess game here and there.

Ah well. These people are losing their own money by doing these trades so it's not really my concern. If they really want to play CoD online so badly, wouldn't be easier to just buy the PC version?
