If you've been wondering whether gamers care about the graphics then stop wondering. A poll has been taken and it turns out, according to The NPD Group, less than half of the people care about the HD features and the Blu-ray features on the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. 40% of PS3 owners were even aware the their console had Blu-ray and only 50% of that percentage had watched a Blu-ray movie on their console the last ten usages. Gong over to the Xbox 360, only 30% of Xbox 360 owners knew about the HD capabilities.

Microsoft and Sony have both been pushing high-definition visuals this generation, but do people care? So far, the hardcore have been the early adopters of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while the mass market waits for the right games (i.e. Grand Theft Auto IV) and price drops to make this generation financially viable. Naturally, then, you might assume gamers with machines now are aware of their HD capabilities, right?

And as if we should listen to this, its not even a correct poll. Take a worldwide poll. Also Im pretty sure the average/hardcore gamer knows about the the features and HD graphics.

Thee is a difference in people wanting to play games in HD and wanting to watch movies in HD.

I also find it extremely hard to believe more than half of all gamers were even aware their console could display in High-Def.

They didn't buy it for graphics?

That's the only one feature that I tip my hat to PS3 for. That, and some multimedia features... still, Wii kickes PS3-a55.

So what, don't compare the wii and PS3, its obvious thats it beating the PS3, and in a week its going to be beating the 360.

    I've never cared about graphics.

I care about fun and IN MY OPINION Nintendo always has the funnest games.

Although I am planning on getting a 360 soon, although there are only a few games that interest me.

Take into consideration that HD isn't really a household standard yet.. I don't know anybody with an HD TV. It's like when DVDs were first invented, it took a while before everyone and their momma had a DVD player. People who are all 'i dont care about graphics, the wii looks good enough etc' probably haven't played a 360/PS3 game in beautiful HD. Otherwise, they'd realize just how butt-focking-ugly the wii is.

And the whole 'nintendo games are more fun' thing is kind of ridiculous. Something is either fun, and entertaining, or it's not fun at all. There's hardly any 'game A is more fun than game B'.

That's the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard. Of course one game can be more fun than another, just like one girl can be prettier than another, or one coin can be shinier than another. I definitely consider The Bible Game 10 times as fun as Halo.

"I definitely consider The Bible Game 10 times as fun as Halo."

Now THAT is the biggest load of bullshit I'VE ever heard. I know you did NOT call a pathetic attempt of making a Trivia version of the bible for kids as fun as "all out fragfest" Halo.

And I think he means that not ALL Nintendo games can be that friggin good...cuz they aren't, only SOME of them, and that's just as bad as saying "I like the PS3 games better cuz they're more fun"...you're obviously getting nowhere with that.

Personally, I care for fun and graphics. Still, graphics are a big deal on my part, since I like the game to be visually pleasing as well as fun to play.

I've always had the opinion that graphics should be "good enough".
I don't care if a game has the "best of the best" graphics, or if most of the production went into making the characters look real. Developers should focus on Gameplay (and story, for some genres) more than they should focus on graphics. If the graphics are "good enough" to look at, then I'll be happy. Fantastic graphics are a bonus.

Graphics are nice to have, when coupled with awesome gameplay its rocks the house. Just because a game has awesome graphics doesn't mean it can't be innovative and fun as well

Those who say PS3 has graphics, the Wii has fun are stupid, just because a game doesn't use motion sensing like the Wii does mean it can't be fun

I care about graphics and the price they come at

Technically, I think the gameplay, sound and price are slightly more important than graphics. Graphics are some kind of an 'extra addition to the game', at least that's what I think.

Graphics is too much of a big deal these days, and if these statistics are true I am quite devastated. Graphics play such a big part in console wars these days which would make you think that these statistics are false.

Either way I play games for gameplay, the Wii's graphics are suitable by my standards and if the Xbox 360's were that quality too it wouldn't bother me.

People need to read the back of the PS3 box. Or any game box. Or the little icons on the side of the PS3. Or the game disk. Or the movie box. Or the movie disk. Or the manual. Who the hell owns a PS3 and doesn't know about blu-ray? Besides little kids who would have settled for a GameCube and not known there was a difference between that and the PS3/360, but their parents had to buy them the PS3 anyway.

There are countries that don't even know what Blu Ray is.

sten mk II Aug 9, 07
People don't even know why the PS3's expensive, like when I talk to other people in person they're like "blu ray what? Cell processor"

they even make fun of it by saying "what are they using human cells?" so this article is true when it comes to that.

People do care about graphics, everybody does. Just as long as they aren't horrible I'm fine.

imo, I care more about game play than I do about graphics. I come from the 8bit days so to me what we have for graphics now is pretty damn good. I don't care how good a game looks if the game play is absolute crap.

Graphics are a big deal because M$ and sony tell us how important they are. The success of the wii tell me graphics are not as important as those companies think they are.

Gameplay/easy to use consoles are much more important to me than graphics

Graphics are a big deal to me but I am a bit more for the gameplay.. Its the part of the game that makes it any good is the gameplay =]
